A few miscellaneous fun things that don’t really fit anywhere else.

Luminescence

Weaving is a fascinating topic. I wrote a whole weaving language, and built on online loom that you can use to make your own designs! You can read much more about it, and even run the digital loom yourself, by clicking here.

For more information on weaving, the weaving equation, and my weaving language, see a few of my columns in IEEE Computer Graphics & Applications (you can see them here, about 2/3 of the way through the column list).

Personal Timelapse

Somewhere in the 1990’s, I took a picture of myself every day for almost a year, and then joined them all up into a video. These images are averages of the first 50 days and the last 50. The images were aligned using custom software written in Processing.

Cut Circles

Playing around with shape and shadow.

Designed in Illustrator, then cut on the Silhouette Cameo cutter. Paper, approx. 8.5″ x 11″.

Papercraft Fish

A fish design built from 7 layers of paper of different colors. The original design was pencil on paper. I cleaned it up in Illustrator, then cut the pieces on a Silhouette Cameo cutter and glued them in place. Colored paper, approx. 10″ by 7″.

Portal Cube

The Weighted Companion Cube is just one of many terrific ideas in the video game Portal. I took some screenshots, studied them, and then made my own version of this imaginary box. Corrugated cardboard, colored paper, spray paint, glue. Approximately 5.5″ each side.
